Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Pair of Qing Dynasty Guangxu Chinese porcelain bowls, with a variety of butterflies fluttering through intertwining floral vines. The butterfly is a symbol of connubial bliss, of delight and of summer. On Chinese porcelain specifically, a pair of butterflies symbolizes the souls of the forefathers. Deep curvature flaring upward to form the rim, with a slightly raised footing. The decorative images are painted in brightly pigmented glaze giving this piece a vibrant quality. The interior and concaved central base contain white underglaze. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark on base, a vertical six blue underglazed script -KaiShu- Characters, GuangXu Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
