Gorgeously cast gilt bronze Chinese antique brush holder in the form of a long Dragon. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity. The dragon is molded into a circular shape. A painters brush would be placed through the dragons mouth which serves as the brush holder until he or she is ready to paint again. This tool would be highly useful to any calligrapher or artist if the day. The bronze is bright and lustrous as the light is easily reflected from the well-polished surfaces. There is a light grey patina noted in several creases.
