此式为曼生十八式之一的经典壶形“井栏壶”，造型古朴，端庄典雅。圆腹上收下微敛，平底，环形耳把，短流坚挺，出水甚好，圆润中透出古朴韵味。壶身刻有诗文为饰。该壶选料尚佳，具有典型“曼生泥料”特点风格，将紫砂质朴无华的美感表现得恰到好处。壶底钤“琢玉斋”方印。琢玉斋极有可能为当时文人士大夫所用斋号。
