A white jade snuff bottle


The rounded rectangular bottle well-hollowed, with a recessed lip, carefully finished oval foot ring, each broad side with a conforming reserve, one framing the mercy and compassion goddess Guanyin and a boy, the other depicting a playful boy wearing a large lotus leaf as a hat, standing near a stemmed lotus pod; the lustrous white stone of nearly perfect even tone showing minimal inclusions. 2 1/2in (6.4cm) high
