Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty porcelain bowl, with external depictions of some peaceful fishes swimming around. Deep curvature flaring upward to form the rim, with a slightly raised footing. The exterior masterfully covered in an even coat of a delicate white underglaze. The exterior is encapsulated in color combination of some red carps water-lily, seagrass, and other marine flora; Which makes up the carps in peaceful natural habitat. The carp is accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance. The clay is very fine adorned with gilt overglazed ring on rims with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark on base, a vertical six underglazed blue script -KaiShu- characters reign mark, JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming. Dimensions: 3-5/8" H x 7-5/8" Diam.
