EXTRAORDINARY, RARE Liao Dynasty Chinese Tibetan Gilt Bronze Buddha statue of standing Bodhisattva figure. Carved by a craftsman in a standing figure, dressed in a voluminous robe characterized by heavy folds, with serene face beneath the headdress, slightly gazed west. The right arm is in the dharmachakra mudra which forms the mystic circle by connecting the middle two fingers with the thumb representing the wheel of the dharma in motion, and teaching. The left arm fold to east with holding a ritualistic bell. The eyes and lips are hand painted. Standing upon a double lotus pedestal with flowing robes spilling over his legs and onto the platform. Bronze is in beautiful condition with minimal marring of the surface. Resplendent quality due to extensive trace of gilt on surface. Dimensions: 7-3/4" H
