Stoutly potted Chinese porcelain fish pot of deep vessel globular body below the banded flat rim, wider on the shoulder and gently shrinking to the flat foot base. The exterior is painted in strong tones in blue underglaze of abundant grapes, stems and leaves decorated with playful little squirrels. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, pooling on the base slightly veiling the mark. Mark under the exterior rim, a horizontal six underglazed blue script -KaiShu- characters, enclosed within a rectangular frame border, Wanli Reign Period of Great Ming. Dimensions: 10-1/2" H x 17-1/2" Diam.
