In rectangular tall frame, frame carved Zitan hardwood with auspicious pattern, enclosed the four sides clear glass panels with attractive gilt two sage standing in the grass amidst ruyi clouds over rocky mountain, beside the pavilion and peace Lishui water with various lush tree. Many mountains in China are sacred, some to Daoist, some to Buddhists and some to both. In folk religion each mountain has its own deity associated with it. The pictogram character for mountain Shan has three towering peaks. ‘Mountains and sea’ represent an all encompassing phrase for the whole world ShanHai. Mountains represent the yang element in the landscape and as such connect to the governing yang element in China - the Emperor. Mountain is one of the eight trigrams in Feng Shui and Yi Jing. Of these Taishan is considered the most important and stones from the mountain were often placed in towns across China as a lucky charm. The foot rim supported by GU vase shaped cloisonne gilt bronze post upon square prominent Zitan hardwood foot base. The gilt bronze Gu vase decorated in cloisonne works with colorful floral and key fret motifs aver the pale-turquoise ground, adorned with taotie mask and scrolling tendril, flowers blooms in vivid tones color. Elegancy come with tall Zitan hardwood stand carved with scrolling ruyi and Auspicious motif. The Elaborately carved Zitan hardwood frame perfectly accentuates this work of art. Measurements: Height: 26-1/4" Width: 8-5/8"Lot Notes:The cloisonne technique was mostly used for jewelry and small fittings for clothes, weapons or similar small objects decorated with geometric or schematic designs, with thick cloisonne walls. century this enamel technique had spread to China, where it was soon used for much larger vessels such as bowls and vases; the technique remains common in China to the present day, and cloisonne enamel objects using Chinese-derived styles were produced in the 18th century. However, by the beginning of the 18th century the Kangxi Emperor had a cloisonne workshop among the many Imperial factories. The most elaborate and highly valued Chinese pieces are from the early Ming Dynasty, especially the reigns of the Xuande Emperor and Jingtai Emperor (1450–57), although 19th century or modern pieces are far more common. The Chinese industry seems to have benefited from a number of skilled Byzantine refugees fleeing the Fall of Constantinople in 1453, although based on the name alone, it is far more likely China obtained knowledge of the technique from the middle east. In much Chinese cloisonne blue is usually the predominant color, and the Chinese name for the technique, jingtailan ("Jingtai blue ware"), refers to this, and the Jingtai Emperor. Chinese cloisonne is amongst the best known enamel cloisonne in the world.Zitan is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages. The entirety is encased in amazing relief carving which gives this box a captivating appearance.
