狮面佛母原是西藏苯教崇奉神袛，后被莲花生大师降伏成为佛教重要的本尊。佛母形象奇特而怖畏，常与熊面，虎面佛母一起供奉。这尊造像舞立姿势，左手高持钺刀，狮子头相，面生三目，张口吐舌，圆睁怒视，表情忿怒。上身袒胸露腹，胸前饰项圈璎珞，颈挂骷髅长链，下身着虎皮裙。四肢皆采用细密两道珠钏装饰，手脚刻划细腻写实。单层仰式莲花座，上缘饰精密连珠纹，莲花瓣别致精美。
