Samuel Draper Gold and Enamel Mourning Ring, America, c. 1767, the gold ring with coffin-shaped stone and tiny pen and ink image of a skeleton behind, the exterior of the band with black enamel and gold lettering "S. DRAPER:O.B. 21 MAR 1767:AE:30," size 6. Note: Samuel Draper (1737-1767) was a prominent citizen of Boston, Massachusetts. He was the grandson of Richard Draper, a merchant who helped furnish the lumber from which Faneuil Hall was built. Samuel was the co-founder of the "Fowle & Draper" printing house on Marlborough St. His grave is in the Granary Burying Ground.
