A PTOLEMAIC MARBLE HEAD OF A WOMANCirca 332 - 30 B.C.Possibly depicting a queen, perhaps Arsinoe III, with a long, elegant neck and narrow face, the small mouth, with a slender nose and almond-shaped eyes, her hair framing her face and styled into ringlets, traces of pigment survives, 22.5cm high.Provenance: With Jean-Louis Domercq, Galerie de Sycamore, Paris, 1970s-2006; Private collection of a lady, Rome.Footnotes: This head bears a resemblance to a marble head in the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, identified as Queen Arsinoe III (246 - 204 B.C.), accession number 23.6.
