A Set of Five Fine Chinese Canton Famille Rose Narrative Theme Dishes The platters of elongated octagonal form and one oval-shaped dish with foliate edge. All brightly enamelled with highly detailed figure-filled court scenes: the oval shaped dish with a seated official, surrounded by courtiers and ladies at leisure, their garments meticulously detailed, three ladies stand near the official with fans, the scene set on a fenced terrace with trees and stylised rock work in the gardens, one oblong dish depicting the official at a table with lady attendants behind holding fans and courtiers at leisure looking towards an attendant bringing gold dishes overflowing with food, another showing gentlemen at scholarly pursuits, one at a table with writing implements, one reading and one playing the jin, all within a wide border richly enamelled with ribbon-tied symbols, butterflies, blossoms and twin fish, the other two similarly decorated.
