A LARGE SOAPSTONE SEAL, EARLY QING DYNASTY China, 17th-18th century. Carved in shallow relief to depict a mythical beast, a chilong and a magic pearl, all using an ochre layer in the maroon stone. The reverse with incised inscriptions. The seal with characters for luck, longevity and virtue. Provenance: From an old private collection in Zagreb, Croatia. Condition: Extensive traces of use and old wear, minor nicks.
