天球瓶是明初受西亚文化影响而烧造的瓷器，创烧于明代永乐时期。流行于清代雍正、乾隆时期，是宫廷最为名贵的陈设用瓷之一。雍正乾隆时期的天球瓶，除用青花做装饰外，还有粉彩、斗彩、孔雀绿、霁蓝、宝石蓝等，达到“师古而不泥古，仿古而不忘新意”的境地。 此件天球瓶的基本形制为圆口、直颈、球腹，饱满圆润，胎质厚实，通体满施霁蓝釉，色泽均匀细润，沉静明快。观之，使人深深地感受到其釉色之静雅，器形之华贵。
