Note: Garbell arrived in Paris in 1923, and became a student at the Ranson Academy, where he studied with Roger Bissièr, Jean Le Moal and Francis Gruber. From this period his work was exhibited throughout Paris. However during the occupation, he took refuge in Mirmande, where André L'Hote opened a free academy.
