John Barnett, London The possibly associated case with overhanging cornice and blind fret supported on Doric columns over a long door inlaid with three shaped panels of birds within a design of tight foliage and flowers, centred by a circular lenticle over a matching base, the trunk sides inlaid with pairs of rectangular panels, the 11 inch square brass dial framed by cherub and crown spandrels and engraved foliate scrolls, the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborate half hour marks enclosing the finely matted centre with subisidiary seconds, ringed winding squares and a decorated date aperture, signed in flowing script between V and VII, the movement united by seven finely turned and finned pillars, the going train of five wheels terminating in an anchor escapement, the strike train with outside countwheel and detent.
