PROVENANCE: From private collector of The Rimig, by inheritance, private collectors, business entrepreneurs & philanthropies, most items believed to be acquired from BOOKER & LOOMIS Auctions, during late 19th C. Dimensions: 10.75in H x 9.5in W x 9.375in D Rare, Chinese Ming Dynasty ZhengDe Reign Period, Lustrous Zhengde red blue glazed Arabic motif pen stand. The Porcelain potted in pen stand shape, thick, globular upper body, with seven opening pen stand on the top side, raise on the small short flat foot base rim. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the blue and red fine color. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty. Its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. The main body decorated with Arabic motif calligraphy in medallion among scrolling interlocking tendril, and the top among seven opening festooned with scrolling interlocking tendril in ruby red color, enclosed with double fine blue rings. The foot base rim decorated with scrolling ruyi clouds, and numerous double fine blue rings. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the carving. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six underglaze blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rings, Made In The Years of ZhengDe Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
