World War I.- An album of 244 gelatin silver prints , compiled by Charles F. Pulman, v.s., images created by overlap, annotated extensively, dates and annotations also within image, 100pp., contemporary cloth, worn, oblong folio . ***Subjects include: portrait of Charles F. Pulman in Royal Flying Corps uniform; aerial photography equipment fitted to plane; aerial views indicating gas attacks, shell-fire, trenches etc., before and after; ‘smashed’ tanks; numerous planes and zeppelins performing manoeuvres, including Sopwith planes being released from zeppelins, crashes e.g. ‘cadets attempt at flying’ and ‘in wireless mast Calshot’; parachuting; naval and submarine battles, sinkings; whales; various locations in UK, Europe, Alps, Constantinople, Jerusalem, the Pyramids. Pulman owned a photography business in Birmingham. He joined the Royal Flying Corps on the outbreak of war and developed an aerial camera, which is detailed at the front of the album. In later life, Pulman gifted the album to the vendor.
