此玉牌选材和阗白玉雕琢而成，玉质坚实，纹理细腻，光泽柔美。通体受沁，星星点点的沁斑如洒落的桂花，故而又叫“桂花沁”，局部带灰皮。牌呈椭圆形，顶端透雕太极图及云纹。下端透雕一摩羯，又称“鱼化龙”。牌面减地浮雕三只山羊相互依偎，造型闲适恬静。背面琢刻篆书“三羊开泰”四字。整器雕刻细腻，打磨精致。羊自古便被赋予了某种神秘的色彩，人们时常将羊之名附会人事祸福，又以“羊”与“祥”相通，寓意“吉祥”。
