|Myanmar/Burma. End of 19th c./beginn 20th c.|Ivory finely carved. Because this piece was not in use and has been kept out of light, the ivory is still white and without patina. The angled shape could be used for a stick or an umbrella. Inside the scrollwork of the longer part a lady is standing on a demon crouched in the shorter part with his face breaking through the scrollwork. The tip is crowned by a flower. This type of ivory carving of figures inside an open scrollwork is typical for workshops in Rangoon and before in Mawlamyaing und Pyinmana. Length 8.4cm, Ø 1.8cm.
