Tibet, 19th century
Seated in the dhyanasana position on a double lotus flower base, the hands in the dharmachakra mudra, wearing a loose dress with the hems enlivened by incised floral motifs, a conical hat on the head, the face with a serene expression.

Provenance: European private collection.
Tsongkhapa (1357-1419), literally "the man of the onion valley", was a Buddhist monk who founded the Gelup School, the most popular in Tibet.
