The paint layers are thinly applied and in some areas are slightly worn. At the centre of the top edge are a series of regular score lines in the paint. There is some retouching in the dark trees near the centre of the painting, this appears very matte compared to the surrounding areas. The surface is semi-glossy, there are a few light accretions. The frame is in a good condition. Oil on canvas which has been lined. There is a small deformation along the lower edges caused by debris trapped behind the stretcher bar. The paint layers are thinly applied but stable. There are small strokes of retouching, mainly in the water, which appear matte. There are some delicate areas of moulding to the frame which are fragile.
