C. AD 618 and 907. Tang Dynasty. A pair of delicate Tang Dynasty dancers with long sleeves. Both dancers are wearing a long flowing gowns with overlength sleeves which hide their hands, and a shoulder sash which ties at the hip. The orange pigment of the ladies' bodices, the light green of their skirts and the dark green of their sashes are beautifully preserved as is the red pigment which highlights their lips and cheeks as well as the black pigment of their elaborate coiffure. Dance as an art form reached its peak in China during the Tang Dynasty, which is now known as the golden age of Chinese music and dance.
