A pottery head of Buddha in a taupe fabric with a yellow painted topknot (ushnisha), arched brow, heavily lidded, closed eyes, a bulbous nose, full, red lips, rounded chin and large, pendulous ears. Buddhism has been an important part of Chinese culture, religious life and art for centuries, as this beautiful piece exemplifies.
