Ca. 1368-1644 AD. Chinese Ming Dynasty. An elaborately crafted male attendant figure dressed in a dark green tunic with orange accents, black boots and a creme coloured brimmed connical hat. The attendant has what appears to two bottles connected by a cord draped over his shoulders. During the Ming Dynasty the Chinese art industry flourished and the production of ceramic and porcelain pieces increased exponentially. Figures of this type were particularly popular during the Ming artistic revival which placed great importance on depicting aspects of Chinese political and social life including warriors, servants and ladies of high status.
