Dimensions: 10.125"L x 2.5"H Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Yongzheng red and blue dragon motif porcelain plate. The porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, thick and large, slight deep, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with a straight open lip, raised with round shallow draft, slight concave base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in ruby red under glazed base color which contrast against the blue fine color. The Exterior adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds, flaming ruyi, above thrashing Li-shui waves in a dark blue color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. Repeating interlocking key fret festooned on the upper mouth lip, and the foot base rim decorated with triple fine blue rings lines. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on under base, a horizontal six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine rings, Yongzheng Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
