Dimensions: 10-1/2" H x 7-1/2" Dia. Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong Ge vase. The porcelain potted in vase, thick and tall, globular lower body, tapered gracefully toward straight tall cylindrical neck, with slight flaring mouth rim, raised on a flat round foot base with slight concave. Distinctive "GE" crackled glaze also known as jinsitiexian which translates to mean gold floss and iron thread which details the look of several lines that appear in the crackled surface. Grayish white stoneware glaze with an intentionally closely crackled glaze, Copied ever after and particularly popular in the early 20th century, then often in combination with brown unglazed molded or incised borders or applications. Ge makes together with Guan, Ding, Jun and Ru up the Five Great Song Wares. The porcelain displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
