PROVENANCE: From the Collections of Franklin Wood (1924-2019) Cartersville, GA. Franklin was born in a small farmhouse near White GA in 1924. After spending his early childhood on the family farm the family moved to the City of Cartersville where he attended school graduating in 1942. Franklin entered the Navy as a cadet aviator. On March 3, 1943, John was commissioned an Ensign and received his Wings of Gold, becoming one of the Navy's youngest naval aviators. In 1947, Franklin was retired from the Navy. He was a civilian flight instructor, supervisor and squadron commander in the Primary Training Squadron Flying Training Air Force. He met his wife Ying Su while she was attending flight training safety courses. Ying Su came from a prominent family in China. Her family blessed her marriage with numerous pieces of porcelains and Jade. The items in this sale are from her collection. Dimensions (cm): Diameter: 3.5 Height: 9 Weight (gram): 320 Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Jade carved lidded Incense Burners. Nephrite jade carved in cylindrical shape, slight long, come with dome reverse plate and raised on round thick fit rim, all made of Zitan wood. The jade body carved with Chinese calligraphy poems in gilt scripts. Beautiful clean translucent even tone, finely polished stone, moist milky appearance all over surfaces. Its vivid craftsmanship makes it a unique worth.
