PROVENANCE: From the Collections of Franklin Wood (1924-2019) Cartersville, GA. Franklin was born in a small farmhouse near White GA in 1924. After spending his early childhood on the family farm the family moved to the City of Cartersville where he attended school graduating in 1942. Franklin entered the Navy as a cadet aviator. On March 3, 1943, John was commissioned an Ensign and received his Wings of Gold, becoming one of the Navy's youngest naval aviators. In 1947, Franklin was retired from the Navy. He was a civilian flight instructor, supervisor and squadron commander in the Primary Training Squadron Flying Training Air Force. He met his wife Ying Su while she was attending flight training safety courses. Ying Su came from a prominent family in China. Her family blessed her marriage with numerous pieces of porcelains and Jade. The items in this sale are from her collection. Dimensions (cm): Diameter: 15 Height: 12 Weight (gram): 1490 Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Jade Carved Lidded Censer on hardwood stand. Nephrite Jade potted in censer shape, spherical, wide opening lip, mythical beast head shown on the belly, reverse bowl dome lid with round finial bud, raised with short ring foot base. This well-defined censer hastate mask with complex but not chaotic patterns. Elegantly and smooth presented upon a carved Zitan hardwood stand with archaic ruyi pattern, created Majestic jade censer. The nephrite stones displays clean even tone, in pale celadon color, finely polished with beautiful translucent. It is made smartly, showing gentle and natural features.
