By Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927) of Kyoto, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century Finely worked in silver wire of varying gauge, the cover decorated with a ho-o bird in flight on a lustrous black ground surrounded by a band of repeated hanabishi-mon (flowery-diamond crests), shippo-tsunagi (linked-cash) and other formal foliate patterns, the design extending to the underside of the box, the rims applied in silver, signed on the underside with chiselled characters Kyoto Namikawa; with a custom-made velvet storage box. 2.5cm x 6.2cm (1in x 2 3/8in).
