Pair Chinese famille noire porcelain vases, 19th/20th c., polychrome enameled, figural panels in garden scenes, surrounded by flowers on black enameled ground, seal marks and to undersides, carved hardwood stands, 10.5"h x 6"w x 4.5"d (vase only) Provenance: The Collection of Litsa Tsitsera, New York Notes/Literature: Born in North Carolina, but of Greek descent, Litsa Tsitsera was a female pioneer in electrical engineering, starting her professional career in 1960s NYC working for the global electrochemical giant Vittorio de Nora. In addition to her professional life she was an avid supporter of the visual arts, building an impressive wide-ranging collection, and becoming patron to numerous living artists, particularly those of Greek descent, including Theodors Stamos, Chryssa, Michael Lekakis, Frank Minei, Ed Meneely, and Richards Ruben.
