AN ARCHAISTIC BRONZE VASE AND A BRONZE TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER Ming Dynasty The baluster vase with a border around the shoulders enclosing taotie masks reserved on diaper grounds suspending cicada blades around the similarly-decorated body, the shoulders set with a pair of taotie-mask ring handles, the exterior with warm chestnut patina with green encrustation, 28.4cm (11 3/16in) high; the incense burner of compressed globular form rising on three tall flared elephant legs, the cylindrical neck cast with an archaistic band enclosing a taotie mask on a leiwen ground below the flared flat rim, the exterior with a warm brown patina, 13.4cm (5 5/16in) high.
