A MOTHER-OF-PEARL-INLAID BROWN LACQUER LOW TABLE, KANG Possibly Ryukyu Islands, 17th century With a flat rectangular top resting on a constricted waist supported by a shaped apron and short cabriole legs ending in curved feet, inlaid all over with mother-of-pearl landscape designs depicting scholars engaged in leisurely pursuits besides ornate pavilions, all on a brown lacquer ground. 29cm (11 3/8in) high x 73cm (28 6/8in) wide x 49cm (19 2/8in) deep.
