A VERY RARE PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE 'CHILDREN' PLAQUES Qianlong Each of oval shape, finely painted with a scene of European children going to and from school, the first scene showing children going to school with a boy and a girl, neatly dressed and holding hands being sent off by their mother who watches through a doorway, the second showing children leaving the school, streaming joyously out of the schoolroom doorway, the original boy and girl now a little dishevelled, to the right some boys playing with marbles, later frames. 34cm (13 1/2in) long. The first versions were by Knight circa 1788-1789.
