A MOLDED AND GLAZED PORCELAIN 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' SNUFF BOTTLE, QING China, 19th century. The elongated ovoid body rising from an oval foot to a waisted neck, the bottle molded and glazed blue with green highlights, with a dragon to one side and a phoenix to the other, both amid scrolling clouds and flames, the neck with a key-fret band, a beaded border below the mouth and above the foot. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear. Provenance: The Kaufman Collection. Old collector's label to base, 'K 262'. George M. (1932-2001) and Linda H. Kaufman (b. 1938) were well-known philanthropists and art collectors as well as important members of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
