A good late 19th century French engraved brass repeating carriage clock with three porcelain panels, alarm and original travelling case The dial marked Paris Surmounted by a rippled handle over the repeat button and bevelled oval inspection panel, the porcelain side panels depicting two lovers frolicking on a swing on a bleu celeste background on a raised base, the rectangular Roman dial with blued-steel spade hands over an alarm subsidiary dial all set amongst a painted boating scene set in a gold foliate border, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform escapement and bimetallic and compensated balance, striking the hours and half-hours on a blued-steel coiled gong mounted on a block stamped A.D. Ticking, striking and repeating.
