A second half of the 19th century French cast brass 'caryatid' carriage clock Henri et Co, Paris The highly Romanticised case surmounted by a handle depicting two mermaids clasping a tied bow over four pilasters with niches set with four Renaissance court figures on a foliate stepped and angled base, the signed circular Roman enamel dial with blued steel trefoil hands within an engraved floral and foliate scrollwork mask, the movement stamped for the maker along the lower edge, with cut and compensated bimetallic balance to a lever escapement striking the hours and half hours with outside countwheel on a bell.
