A Fine mid 19th century English gilt and engraved brass Egyptian style timepiece with calendar, in the manner of Thomas Cole The movement numbered 104 The highly elaborate case surmounted by a Sphinx handle over four tapered half fluted freestanding columns with pomegranate finials on sphinx feet, the side panels with raised arabesque and strapwork panels, the 1.75 inch silvered engraved Roman dial with blued-steel Breguet style hands over three manual calendar dials for day, date and month, the single chain fusee movement with vertical lever escapement mounted on the numbered backplate with a hand-engraved cock carrying the diamond endstone and steel three-arm balance, with integral hand setting key, the calendar dials with setting squares below. Ticking.
