A late 18th century Chinoiserie decorated tavern clock William Stevens, Cirencester The 28 inch black and gilt circular dial with well moulded bezel framing the gilt Roman and Arabic numerals and minute band over a pair of ears and the two-line signature 'Willm. Stevens, CIRENCESTER', the 19 inch shaped trunk door with Chinoiserie scenes incorporating two birds flying over buildings and a pair of walking figures, the sides decorated with flower heads, the chisel-foot base with applied and decorated moulding, the weight driven movement with tapered plates united by four knopped pillars, the four-wheel train with large barrel and anchor escapement TO COME Footnotes: Provenance: Single family ownership for 23 years.
