A small French Louis XV-style kingwood and marquetry bureau de dame, c.1900, the shaped fall front inset with a porcelain roundel depicting classical maidens, enclosing a fitted interior with a well and a velvet inlaid surface, decorated to the sides and the reverse with further roundels, with all-over gilt metal mounts, 56cm wide 34cm deep 83cm high Provenance: Farm House, Farm Street, Mayfair, London. Condition report: Splits to the top surface and sides due to movement in the carcass, particularly at the tops of the legs. Gilt metal tarnished and rubbed. Hinges of fall lacking screws. Losses to veneer on the front. The porcelain panels with rubbing to the gilt. General wear commensurate with age and use.
