Cobalt and Mulberry glaze .5 liter stein probably Dumler and Breiden, depicting Charlemagne, Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great, has stoneware insert to pewter lid. Marked with 0.5 on the rim and 61 on bottom. A one liter 'mud' stein with Gambrinius and gnomes dancing circa 1870. Stein also has grape clusters and leaves creating a border which surrounds the mid-section with geometric forms and historical figures creating a border on the lower portion of the stein. Dimensions are: .5 liter stein: 6 3/8 inches tall X 4 inches diameter; 16.19 cm tall X 10.16 cm diameter. 1 liter stein: 9 5/8 inches tall X 4 3/8 inches diameter; 24.44 cm tall X 11.11 cm diameter. All measurements are approximate. Condition: One liter stein has a crack from the rim to midway through stein. No noted damage on the .5 liter stein. Provenance: From a private South Carolina collection.
