A Pair of Vienna Porcelain Hand-Painted Roundel Plaques Signed Seller, early 20th century One depicting numerous semi nude nereids in diaphonous robes playing in water, titled "Frulichtertainz" to underside; the other depicting the same nereids set upon by a female horde and frightened by a dog, titled "fagd der Diana" to underside, both within giltwood frames. (Dia: 14 in. (excluding frame); Dia: 18 1/2 in. (including frame)) Provenance Collection of Robert & Barbara Safford, Vaux Hill, Audubon, Pennsylvania. Freeman’s, Philadelphia, September 25, 2013, lot 72. Acquired directly from the above sale. Private Collection, Long Island, New York. Condition report: Plaques very good with only light surface wear. Frames: one shallow diagonal crack in the frame of the horizontal figure group plaque, to the slight right of the upper center. On the circular figure group plaque, one large crack extending through the frame profile, secured with wood blocking on reverse.
