A FRENCH CARVED GILTWOOD STOOL LATE 19TH CENTURY, IN THE MANNER OF A.M.E FOURNIER The circular domed seat covered in distressed floral needlework and buttoned silk, on rope-twist carved supports joined by stretchers 43cm high, 63cm diameter Provenance: Sotheby's, London, 'The Ballyedmond Collection', 23-24th May 2017, Lot 83 Condition Report: Marks, scratches, chips, splits and abrasions consistent with age and use. Horn casters to the tasselled feet. The giltwood worn variably revealing some underlying , terracotta wash and gesso. Cracks, chips and repairs to the legs. Evidence of old worm. The pink buttoned silk fragmented; the floral woolwork threadbare in places; some borders partially detached.
