Provenance: With Maples Fine Art, UK [R1796], according to labels attached to the reverse of the stretcher. Note: Each portrait has a title written on it in a contemporary hand, and the date of execution is likely between 1817, when the Baron Colchester title was created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, and 1827, when the Duke of York died. The titles included are: Mansfield, Kenyon, Westmorland, Colchester, Verulam, Clarendon, Carnarvon, Pomfret, Radnoe, Richmond, Limerick, Downshire, Pembroke, York, Wellington, Exmouth, Gambier, Anglesey, Cathcart, Aylesford, Plymouth, Shaftesbury, De la Zouche, Rosslyn, Essex, Howard of Effingham, Stamford, Argyll, (a Bishop), Somers, De la Warr, Warwick.
