A Victorian diamond crescent brooch or hair ornament, with a row of graduated old European cut and rose cut diamonds, in silver cut down collets backed in gold. A two pin detachable brooch fitting with roller catch. Tested as approximately sterling silver and 9ct gold. The principal diamond estimated as approximately 0.67ct. A later fitted case by J W Benson Ltd. 65mm wide, 10.41g Condition report: Principle diamond measures approximately 5.91 x 5.46 x 3.26mm. An old European cut diamond terminating the brooch at one side is a later replacement, should have a rose cut diamond. That old European cut diamond is chipped. Surface reaching inclusions to some of the diamonds. Surface marks/scratches to mounting. Silver is tarnished.
