A Victorian archaeological revival, Etruscan style shield form brooch, c.1870, with a raised oval boss, decorated with applied twisted wire, bead clusters and pellets with a twisted wire and bead border. The outer frame with rows of graduated beads at the compass points, to a bloomed ground, twisted wire and rows of beads between, glazed locket verso and a concealed hook to a plain pin and 'C' catch. Tested as approximately 9ct gold. 44 x 38mm, 11.34g Condition report: Very tarnished. Light surface marks commensurate with its age. Shallow dent to one end of the boss.
