A Japanese table top shodana cabinet, Meiji period, comprised of one large base drawer, and six smaller interior drawers, two lacquer panels to cabinet doors depicting chickens amongst peonies, lacquer interior finished with maki-e and takamaki-e scenes of island villages, overall 29.5 x 27 x 15.5cm Replacement hinges have been added, and one of the doors is missing a pin in the hinge. Splits to the exterior, particularly to the back side of the cabinet. Wear to the surface and lacquer throughout, small areas of splits and damages, particularly to the edges and corners. Some old repairs present.
