In the 1930s and 1940s, Wu Hufan became the master of his generation in the world of painting with his mastery of brush. His green landscape paintings are not only clear and thick, but also extremely rich in color, and his lines are elegant and free, containing robustness in a graceful manner, opening up a realm unprecedented by his predecessors. As an important painter in twentieth century Chinese painting, his significance in the history of Chinese painting has gone far beyond his significance as a landscape painter.
