PINE AND EAGLE BY QI BAISHI Unframed part: L.178cm W.61cm Description: Qi Baishi (January 1, 1864 - September 16, 1957), formerly known as Chunzhi, Weiqing, and Lanting, later changed his name to Juan, and was known as Baishi, Baishi Shanweng, Old Ping, E Sou, master of Jieshanyin, Old Man of Jipingtang, and Three Hundred Stone Stamped Rich Man, was born in Xiangtan, Changsha Province, Hunan Province (now Xiangtan, Hunan).His calligraphy is comparable to that of Yu Youren, Li Zhimin and Sha Menghai, with its strong, simple and strong brushwork.His seal engraving is unique in his own style and he is good at writing poetry and literature. He has served as an honorary professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and as the chairman of the Chinese Artists Association. His representative works include "The sound of frogs coming out of the mountain spring for ten miles" and "Ink shrimp". He is the author of "Baishi's Poems and Herbs" and "Baishi Old Man's Autobiography".
