Sturdee, n.p., 1976; Private Collection, France Exhibited: Art Union exhibition, London, UK, 1896 inscribed to typed label frame verso Note: "The Village Draw-well" is reviewed in a newspaper clipping adhered to the canvas verso. It mentions E.T. Sturdee and his purchase at the London Art Union exhibition. The writer comments, "Nothing could be more delicately done than this skilful (sic) rendering of cottages, trees, shrubbery, grass, plot, human figures and all the other objects that make up a sweet and quiet village in the motherland. The old well from which the picture takes its title is in the foreground, and, of course, the principal feature of the scene [...]" Estimate: $1,500—2,500
